The autumn arrived and the days are shorter and colder. It’s the best time for a hot tea and my sofa. 🙂 But autumn brings a lot of very good fruits and vegetabels and I like the season of pumpkin soups and apple pie.
For the first time I have tried a recipe with apples and dryed apricots. It’s my recipe Michaelas autumnal apple crumble.
Apples are in season, they are sweet and delicious and the spices are perfect for the cold season. It’s a warming dessert and a good alternative of cake.
Preparing time: 45 minutes + 30 minutes baking time
Ingredients for 4 persons:
- 125 g dryed apricots
- 1 kg apples
- 80 g butter
- 50 sugar
- 50 g almonds
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 50 g oats
- 100 g spelled flour
- 1/2 tsp chocolate powder
- 2 knife-spikes cardamon
- 1/2 tbsp brown rum
- 1 organic lemon
- 2 tbsp of applejuice
- 1 tbsp honey
- bourbon vanilla
- salt
Preparation:
- Soak the dryed apricots in hot water for 10 minutes
- For the sprinkles mix 80 g butter, 50 sugar, 50 g almonds a little bit cinnamon, oats, spelled flour, chocolate powder and salt togheter. Put the finish mixture on the side.
- Cut the soaked apricots in small pieces and put them in a greased ovenproof mold.
- Wash the apples, cut out the core case and cut the apples in small pieces and also put them in the ovenproof mold.
- Squeeze the lemon (you need 2 tablespoons liquid) and grate a half teaspoon of the peel. Put this in a bowl. Add chocolate powder, apple juice, honey, bourbon vanilla, the rest of the cinnamon, cardamon, brown rum and salt. Mix everything and give it about the fruits. Mix everything well again and crumble the sprinkles over the mass.
- Back the apple crumble at 150 degrees for about 30 minutes in the oven.

You can serve the crumble cold and hot. I recommend to eat the crumble hot with a scoop of vanilla icecream and a little bit cinnamon or chocolate powder. If you like raisins, you can decorate the crumble with them.
